For almost twenty years of work, Maxim Ima (b. 1987) has gone from classical bombing (to bomb means to cover in graffiti, most often with tags) on trains and conceptual statements in urban environment to successful studio work and curating exhibitions. In his projects, both personal and curatorial, Ima often refers to different techniques and skills gained during many years of doing graffiti.
Ima’s works represent the synthesis of abstractionism, surrealism and figurative painting. He also often works with textual components in his art.
The author is a part of the St. Petersburg creative community 10.203: a group of like-minded urban contemporary artists who organize exhibitions and projects in their gallery/studio and at other venues. 10.203 also includes Dusto, Turben, Ivan Ilinskii, Xeato, and Sergey Krasavin.
