In “Paisagem A/S”, Filippo Minelli uses his distinctive pairing of photography and direct transfers of plant material to create juxtaposing imagery and colour pairing. Concrete roads and bicycle lanes direct the eye into the sea blue horizon, splitting the image in two, collaging the land and the sea. Whilst the whisper of clouds echo the physical patterning of the vertical stripe next to it.
“All of these works were created at the border between Portugal and Spain, where my studio is located. Many of the photos are captured within the studio, around its vicinity, or directly from it. I utilize flowers and weeds sourced from the roads along the border, as well as other simple everyday materials. I apply them onto photo paper using a spraying technique, akin to analog photo printing where you project a negative onto the paper.
The photos taken outside of the studio area typically depict transitional spaces, such as outskirts of cities, borders, and other limits. They serve as visual narratives of these locations, telling stories about the void present in these suspended areas.” — Filippo Minelli

To enhance the aesthetic appeal of your art piece, we will frame and mat it based on the artist's recommendations. The interior photo shows how it will look once completed. Please note that the framing process can take up to 10 days.

Paisagem series
Italian contemporary artist Filippo Minelli created the “Paisagem” series in 2020, drawing inspiration from the landscapes along the Portuguese-Spanish border where his studio is located. In this series, Minelli combines natural materials transferred onto paper and canvas with photographic imagery depicting urban scenes marked by human intervention. This juxtaposition creates a dialogue between the untouched natural elements and the altered urban environments, inviting viewers to reconsider everyday items often overlooked. Through “Paisagem,” Minelli explores liminal spaces, both politically and aesthetically, challenging perceptions of contemporary landscapes. The Portuguese term for “landscape,” “Paisagem,” serves as a central motif in Minelli's work, reflecting his fascination with the interplay between nature and human influence.
