A fascinating exhibition catalogue, “The Idealized City” explores our collective experiences in a post-globalization world, where urban landscapes blend, revealing a shared identity. Inspired by Minelli’s travels from Northern Italy to Dubai, this artistic research examines uniform architecture and universal symbols shaping modern cities. Dubai’s skyscrapers, malls, and multiculturalism exemplify this global self-perception, accommodating diversity while maintaining a homogeneous aesthetic.
The catalogue includes artwork creation and related project documentation, texts by prominent Emirati urbanist Dr. Khaled Alawadi, and respected philosopher Santiago Zabala.

Paisagem series
Italian contemporary artist Filippo Minelli created the “Paisagem” series in 2020, drawing inspiration from the landscapes along the Portuguese-Spanish border where his studio is located. In this series, Minelli combines natural materials transferred onto paper and canvas with photographic imagery depicting urban scenes marked by human intervention. This juxtaposition creates a dialogue between the untouched natural elements and the altered urban environments, inviting viewers to reconsider everyday items often overlooked. Through “Paisagem,” Minelli explores liminal spaces, both politically and aesthetically, challenging perceptions of contemporary landscapes. The Portuguese term for “landscape,” “Paisagem,” serves as a central motif in Minelli's work, reflecting his fascination with the interplay between nature and human influence.
