“Untitled (Mosque)” a unique print, captured by Anton Selone as part of the “Useless Palace” project led by Inloco.
The scene unfolds against the backdrop of Al Madam, an abandoned village in the Mleiha desert of Sharjah, UAE. This village, lost in both sands and time, has become a convergence point where the rich historical past of the Emirates intersects with its vibrant modernity. Anton cleverly depicts this in-between space by capturing the inside/outside world. The mosque, surrounded by double fencing, has trees spilling over on either side, contrasting with the muted orange sands of the desert and surrounded by nothing but silence.
Adding a technical perspective, the photography by Anton Selone was captured using a 60-year-old Hasselblad film camera and Fujifilm 400h film. The work was printed on Hahnemuhle barite paper with 350 GSM with a guarantee of 100 years.
