Useless Palace pop-up exhibition

Date
January 28 – March 30, 2023
The “Useless Palace” pop-up exhibition showcases works by an international group of ten artists created during an artistic intervention in the Mleiha Desert in Sharjah, UAE. Each artist selected a site within the abandoned village, drawing inspiration from its unique surroundings to craft their pieces. Exploring themes of nomadism, discovery, and connections to the past, the artists assume the roles of desert wanderers, archaeologists, and modern storytellers. Through their creations, the exhibition transforms the desert’s landscape into a space of artistic reflection and exploration.

Useless Palace was realized by a team of ten like-minded international urban artists brought together by Inloco Gallery, including 10.203 CREW, Anton Selone, Filippo Minelli, Lokher, and Neda Salmanpour. The self-curated exhibition features canvases and sculptures created during the intervention in the desert, as well as found objects and digital works produced with the assistance of AI technologies.
